FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT IS CHLORINE DIOXIDE?

Although chlorine dioxide has ‘chlorine’ in its name, it is chemically very different. Chlorine dioxide’s reduced state is chloride (Cl), the same chemical that combines with sodium (Na) to become the compound, sodium chloride (NaCl), better known as table salt. The power of chlorine dioxide is the way in which electrons interact with one another. While both chlorine and chlorine dioxide are oxidising agents, chlorine dioxide has 2.5 times the oxidation capacity with a much lower reactivity and a neutral pH meaning it is non corrosive and safer to use than chlorine based products that damage surfaces and leave harmful residues.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The active ingredient in most air fresheners temporarily combine with odours to add a pleasant smell, but in time break down allowing the odour to return. Clobberizer’s active ingredient Chlorine Dioxide chemically changes the odour to neutralise it completely and permanently.

WILL IT DAMAGE MY CAR?

No, chlorine dioxide has excellent material compatibility and at such low levels will not damage any material found within a car.

WILL IT REMOVE CIGARETTE AND PET SMELLS?

Yes it will, including odours that are embedded in the cars upholstery and carpets. However the source of the odour should be removed first or it could eventually return. So make sure ash trays are emptied, and the car is vacuumed out before use. Cigarette smell is notoriously difficult to remove. We recommend using the combo pack and spraying upholstery directly before treating with Clobberizer. Heavily soiled cars may require 2 treatments and so it may be worth buying a Clobberizer refill at the same time.

WHY DOES IT SAY DANGER ON THE LABEL?

Inside the Clobberizer pouches is a sachet filled with the necessary (dry) chemicals needed to create chlorine dioxide, which is the by-product of water interacting with this sachet. The dry ingredients within the pouch (specifically sodium chlorite) could, in event of rupture, cause risks. Therefore, law requires the word ‘Danger’ to be displayed on the label.  However, robust packaging and stringent manufacturing controls eliminate exposure to the dry ingredients in all but malicious and intentional misuse. Once water is added and pure chlorine dioxide is generated the label warning is ‘Caution – keep out of reach of children’.

IS IT SAFE TO USE?

Yes, Clobberizer is very safe to use when the instructions are followed. Even when tested using concentrations 600% above the standard concentration all tests are at the lowest or second lowest (in one case) toxicity risk categories. Clobberizer is much safer than most household cleaning and deodorising products.

WILL THE PRODUCT LEAVE A RESIDUE?

No the product degrades as it destroys odours and will eventually degrade into basic salts which will leave no residue whatsoever.

IS THE PRODUCT PET FRIENDLY?

Yes, on completion of the treatment your vehicle will be safe for pets. The product does not leave any residue or lingering active ingredients.

CAN I USE MORE THAN ONE?

If you have a vehicle or room that is greater than 17m3, then you can use multiple units to ensure good coverage of the area. Distribute them evenly within the space. Do not use more than one in an area under 17m3. One unit will be adequate.
